Welcome to Epic Days! This January, GAS is offering an opportunity for young people living with a disability to make the most of their school holidays and come together to experience epic adventures outdoors. Ranging from the Bellarine to The Great Ocean Road, Epic Days will involve young people getting outside and having fun participating in mountain biking, bushwalking, kayaking, swimming and fishing. GAS will foster an inclusive and comfortable environment perfect for developing new friendships and creating memorable, positive experiences. Our qualified outdoor educators and support staff will ensure a fun, supportive and safe culture amongst all participants willing to be a part of the community.
‘Epic Days’ will be running every Tuesday in January for ages 10-12 and every Thursday in January for 13 – 17-year-olds. GAS invites you to join us for as many days as you’d like!
Epic Days (age 10-12)
Tuesday January 7 | Ocean Grove Bike Ride Riding the coastal trail from Ocean Grove, across the bridge to Barwon Heads and back. Finishing with an optional swim at Ocean Grove beach. |
Tuesday January 14 | Anglesea River Paddle Exploring the Anglesea River Estuary by kayak. |
Tuesday January 21 | St Leonards Bike Ride & Beachcombing Rolling along the foreshore path and scouring for treasures in the intertidal zone (optional swim). |
Tuesday January 28 | Great Ocean Walk & Beach Games Wander from Bird Rock to Torquay, wade in the shallow waters of Cosy Corner & challenge the GAS staff to some outdoor games in the shade. |
Epic Days (age 13-17)
Thursday January 9 | Mountain Bike Anglesea Ride the Eumeralla trails and cool off with a swim & explore at Point Roadknight. |
Thursday January 16 | Mini Great Ocean Road Tour Visit Lorne and surrounds for some epic sight seeing, a spectacular waterfall walk, beach games and an optional swim. |
Thursday January 23 | Barwon River Paddle & Fishing Kayaking along the Barwon River before an afternoon of fishing from the riverbank. |
Thursday January 30 | Urqharts Bluff Beach Take a dip in the mermaid pool whilst walking Surf Coast Walk circuit. |
Epic Holidays
This January GAS will also be offering our ‘Epic Holidays’ program for ages 13-17! An opportunity for young people with a disability to experience some time away from home, building social skills and self-awareness. Epic Holidays will focus on skill development and capacity building within the group whilst experiencing mountain biking, bushwalking, kayaking, swimming and fishing! The GAS team are committed to facilitating an inclusive and comfortable environment with a supportive and safe culture amongst all participants. Our Epic Holidays trips are perfect for young people looking to develop new friendships and create memorable, positive and fun experiences outdoors.
